AGL acquire Energy360, offering innovative and sustainable energy solutions
To support high emission industries transition to a cleaner future, AGL is set to complete the acquisition of Energy360, a provider of biogas plants for commercial and industrial customers in Australia, subject to customary conditions being met.
Energy360 is a leading provider of solutions for sustainable energy systems, by producing biogas through the break-down of residue organic materials in an oxygen-free environment, providing an effective renewable solution for commercial and industrial customers within agricultural, landfill, food processing and waste management industries.
AGL Chief Customer Officer, Christine Corbett said zero-emissions gases like biomethane have an important role to play in Australia’s decarbonisation, providing a reliable and low-emissions source of energy.
“As Australia’s energy transition continues to move at pace, we want to ensure we are offering our customers the most innovative energy solutions so they can lower costs and achieve their sustainability goals,” Ms Corbett said.
“We know high-emissions businesses with high temperature process requirements are looking for the best solutions that maintain reliability but also allow them to achieve sustainable operations now and into the future.
“AGL is already Australia’s largest provider of commercial solar, and with this acquisition we are expanding the range of sustainable business energy solutions we can offer our commercial customers. This sustainable energy solution will complement our existing solar and battery products, helping customers on the path to decarbonisation.
“Bioenergy is a growing industry and one we expect to accelerate over the next decade while also contributing significantly to regional local economies.
“We welcome the expertise of the Energy360 team as they become a part of AGL, strengthening the products and services we can offer our business customers.“
Australia’s Bioenergy Roadmap Report outlines major opportunities for biofuels in Australia, with renewable, zero-emissions gases to play a significant role in decarbonisation.
Energy360 CEO, Samantha Lamond said as Australia’s leading biogas handling company, Energy360 is excited to form a partnership with AGL’s renewable energy strategy and redefine the energy landscape in Australia.
“It fits that one of Australia’s largest investors in renewable energy is committed to investing in renewable gas for a zero-carbon future,” Ms Lamond said.
“There are some enormous opportunities for businesses to engage with this proven zero-emissions, renewable gas solution, and we are very excited to be partnering with AGL to deliver this technology.”
Energy360 will form part of AGL Australia following AGL Energy’s proposed demerger this year.

Energy 360 Pty Ltd are leaders in the design, manufacture and operation of bioenergy systems that generate energy from organic waste streams. We provide the gas handling systems and can provide civil engineering support and EPC wrap. For businesses such as food processors with a nutrient rich waste-water stream, a biogas system can turn waste into profit.
Waste into Profit
Waste streams can have a high biological load and are often costly to dispose of. A bioenergy system will reduce the biological load in the waste stream, generate biogas and provide renewable energy. The renewable energy will substantially offset natural gas or electrical requirements.
COST BENEFITS OF A BIOENERGY SYSTEM
- Produce your own power – renewable electricity or gas
- Food and agricultural waste a part of the circular economy
- Organic (non-synthetic) fertiliser will enhance soil carbon capture
- No phosphate run off from fertiliser which reduces blue-green algae
- Naturally derived carbon dioxide for industry use
- Prevents carbon dioxide emissions

Biogas Upgrading: Energy360 can upgrade the biogas generated by using world leading biogas to biomethane upgrading technology.
The upgraded biomethane can then be injected to the grid, which enables customers to utilise the valuable, onsite biogas to generate an income stream and offset the profit impact of natural gas price increases without risk to the site’s processing operations.
Key benefits – Biogas to biomethane upgrading is a leading solution for carbon-free manufacturing. The technology is robust, proven and will be delivered by Energy360, Australia’s leading biogas handling company.
In Addition: Biogas can also be stored without conversion to another energy source and used as needed to generate power. The electricity produced can be grid connected or used behind the meter.
