Thermal Oxidisers

Thermal oxidisers are used to destroy waste gases by combustion at elevated temperatures.

It is well known that time, temperature and turbulence are the key parameters in the design but it is also important to minimise additional air and hence fuel.

Our experience in thermal oxidiser design and manufacturing in Australia ensures high destruction efficiency, reliability and fuel efficiency.

Energy360 will calculate a heat and mass balance for each design case and gas analysis and calculate the fuel required residence time and temperature for the destruction efficiency required. Positioning pilots and flame monitors are critical for a reliable combustion system.

Thermal Oxidiser Project

Location: Sydney NSW

Project overview: A thermal oxidiser was designed and installed by Energy360 to mitigate the emissions produced by the bitumen storage facility.

The thermal oxidiser is vertically fitted with an integral Energy360 burner. The upper chamber and stack are constructed from carbon steel with stack bonded 1,400oC lining. The shell is coated with an insulating paint to minimise heat loss. The lower chamber is constructed from carbon steel with 1,650oC hard refractory lining with an insulating refractory backup.

The thermal oxidiser is fired by natural gas and the gas train includes isolation valves, filter, regulator, transmitting flow meter, pressure switches and double block and vent pneumatic valves.
